This weekend we’ve decided to spend some time in the Costwolds, these little hills in the Regions of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire. There are endless ways you can visit all the wonderful villages and heritage sites in these regions: walks, trails, car, bike… You can spend a weekend, an afternoon, a week… choose one, two, three, ten villages… it’s really up to you and you won’t be disappointed. As usual we made up our minds last minute, so we chose to stay at Stow on the Wold, we visited Chastleton House before our arrival ; Lower and Upper Slaughters and Bourton on the Water (in a two hours walk) and then Blockley. Next day we went to Bibury and Cirencester before heading back to London. But there is an incredible amount of small and lovely villages there set in a beautiful countryside, so possibilities are infinite. You can’t possibly be wrong, no matter your budget or time. However, be aware that most of the heritage houses and gardens in the area are closed during weekend in July. Why? Well ask all the brides and grooms we met during our stay…. But let’s keep it positive it just means we will be back!
Ce weekend, c’est les Costwolds que nous avons choisi pour nous échapper de la capitale, c’est petites collines situées dans les régions de Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire.
